On the first day of Transylvania Grand Tour we start from Bucharest towards Sibiu. On our way we stop at Cozia monastery, one of the oldest religious settlements of the country. In Sibiu we tour the cobbled streets to spot the ‚eyes of Sibiu’ and climb the Council Tower for a beautiful view over the Old Town. Tour of the Old Town of Sibiu includes: Bridge of Lies,The Big and Small Squares, Huet Square, The Evangelical Cathedral. Overnight in Sibiu.
** Between the 1st of July and the 31st of October the route from Bucharest to Sibiu can be done on the famous Transfagarasan Road with stops at Curtea de Arges Monastery, Vidraru Dam and Balea Lake. No extra costs.
Day two of our tour takes us to the spectacular Sarmisegetusa Regia and the Gothic Corvin Castle. Sarmisegetusa was the capital fortress of the Dacians, the local population conquered by the Romans in 106 AD. The ancient fortress is nowadays an UNESCO heritage site. Second stop of the day is the Gothic Corvin Castle in Hunedoara. Standing high and mighty this is the one castle that everyone should see when visiting Transylvania. Overnight in Deva.
In the morning we make our way towards the town of Alba-Iulia with its star shaped fortress, Alba Carolina. After Alba Carolina we drive to Cluj-Napoca where we will be lodging for the night. Cluj-Napoca is a bustling city with beautiful old architecture, friendly people and cool places. Our tour of Cluj includes: St. Michael’s Church, Unirii Square, Museum Square, Banffy Palace, the Matthias Corvinus House. Overnight in Cluj.
From Cluj Napoca our next destination is the salt mine in Turda. An ancient salt mine turned into an underground park: take a boat ride on the lake, play games or just wonder the galleries while inhaling the healthy salty air of the mine. Once we re-surfaced we make our way to Sighisoara, a UNESCO heritage site. The tour of Sighisoara includes: The Clock Tower, the Dracula House, the Venetian House, the Stag House, the Student Stairs and the Church on the Hill. Overnight in Sighisoara.
Today we explore a bit of the Transylvanian country side in the picturesque Saxon village of Viscri. We also take a ride in an authentic wooden carriage pulled by horses to visit local workshops. Lunch with the locals and visit the UNESCO fortified church are also included. From Viscri we drive to Brasov, probably the most famous of the 7 Transylvanian burgs. The walking tour of Brasov includes: The Black Church, the White and Black Towers, the Council Square and Europe's narrowest street: Rope Street. Overnight in Brasov.
On our last day of the Transylvania Grand Tour we discover the two most famous castles of Romania: Bran Castle, the den of the infamous Count Dracula. The fairy tale like castle Peles in Sinaia. From Sinaia we leave Transylvania behind and return to Bucharest. Drop off at your accommodation,airport,train station.
