Our day starts early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel. First stop is Curtea de Arges Monastery, a mix of Romanian, Armenian and Ottoman elements that make it one of the most peculiar and beautiful religious settlements in the country. From Curtea de Arges we head towards Transfagarasan. Second stop of the day is Vidraru Dam. Then off we go on the winding road towards the glacier lake Balea. Here we stop for a walk in the brisk mountain air and photos with the iconic image of the snake road.
From Transfagarasan our next stop is the idilic town of Sibiu in Transylvania. Sibiu, with its colourful houses and laid back atmosphere is the sweatheart of Romania. We wonder the old streets to discover the famous „eyes of Sibiu”, cross the Bridge of Lies and climb the Council Tower for an impressive round view over Sibiu. Overnight in Sibiu.
We leave Sibiu early in the morning and head towards the beautifully preserved medieval citadel of Sighisoara. We tour the cobbled streets and climb the citadel's clock tower, the most spectacular tower in Transylvania. Our tour continues with the Venetian House, Stag House, Student Stairs, Dominican Church and the house where Vlad the Impaller presumably spent his childhood years.
At noon we bid goodbye to Sighisoara and head to Viscri to visit the village's fortified church, a UNESCO heritage site. Here we enjoy a traditional home cooked meal and have the chance to admire the famous and colorful Viscri handicraft products. In the afternoon we leave for Bucharest via the scenic Prahova Valley.
